Kamrul Choudhury
Group CEO

Kamrul brings 20 years of expertise in dredging, reclamation, marine construction, and shipbuilding.

Kamrul’s experience includes transforming a small chartering company into one of the top 10 dredging companies globally. He spearheaded the international expansion into new markets in Asia and the Middle East, focusing on talent development and the implementation of systems and processes to enhance efficiency.

Kamrul’s legacy includes the establishment of a new shipyard and the construction of various dredgers, including the 3rd largest jumbo Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) in the world and the largest in Asia. He is celebrated for achieving a milestone of 1 million Lost Time Injury (LTI)-free hours, underscoring his commitment to safety.

Sara Mohamed
Executive Director

Sara stands as one of the distinguished few female leaders in Malaysia’s dredging industry, with over two decades of extensive industry experience. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated exceptional proficiency in various aspects of organisational and strategic management.

Her role in managing government relations has significantly contributed to the advancement of the dredging industry in Malaysia.

Sara has successfully led high-performing teams, cultivating a culture of excellence and accountability.

Akhyar Sidal
Vice President – Commercial & Corporate Services

Akhyar Sidal is a UK graduate in Surveying and Mapping with extensive experience in the dredging and marine infrastructure sector. He began his career in Singapore as a surveyor, building strong technical foundations before returning to Malaysia, where he played key commercial roles in major dredging projects across the region.
As Vice President – Commercial & Corporate Services at DredgeTech Marine, Akhyar oversees contracts, corporate governance, and commercial operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and value creation across the business. He is also central to the company’s international business development, driving growth opportunities in Malaysia, Asia, Middle East and beyond.
With DredgeTech Marine’s expansion into renewable energy, project management consultancy, and marine construction, Akhyar’s blend of technical knowledge and commercial acumen positions him at the forefront of shaping the company’s future. His leadership reflects a strong commitment to innovation, client service, and sustainable growth in the global marine sector. Akhyar is a registered Graduate Member with the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia for Geomatics and Land Surveying Division

Ganesh Pillayan, B.Eng(Civil), M.Eng
Senior Engineer

Ganesh Pillayan is an accomplished civil engineer with over 20 years of experience in dredging, reclamation, PMC, and marine infrastructure development. He has held senior leadership roles with one of the world’s largest dredging companies.
His expertise covers the full spectrum of marine works, from the design and execution of quay walls, jetties, and breakwaters to large-scale dredging, reclamation, and coastal protection projects across Malaysia, India, Singapore, and Asia. Ganesh has also delivered complex port and marine infrastructure projects, combining technical depth with operational oversight.
At DredgeTech Marine, Ganesh oversees all technical and operational functions, from project tenders and proposals to execution, ensuring innovation, cost optimisation, and value delivery for clients. His leadership reflects DredgeTech Marine’s ethos of a client-first approach, where innovative solutions are tailored to meet unique project requirements with efficiency and excellence.
Ganesh is a registered Graduate Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia and a Graduate Member of The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia. He is currently pursuing doctoral research focused on advancing port pavement performance through engineered use of recycled waste materials.

Johannes Smout
Senior Advisor

Johannes is a seasoned expert in the global dredging industry with extensive experience encompassing technical operations, project management and high-level commercial roles, particularly in the Asia Pacific region.

Throughout his career, Johannes has demonstrated exceptional skills in contract management and strategic project planning, contributing to the successful execution of numerous high-profile dredging projects worldwide.

Peter Alex
Project Director

Peter’s career has evolved from hands-on technical roles to high-level project management. His comprehensive expertise in dredging operations and exceptional project management skills have led to the successful and efficient completion of numerous dredging and reclamation projects worldwide. Currently, as the Project Director at DredgeTech Marine, Peter oversees all dredging and reclamation activities, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

His focus on timely project completion and operational efficiency has been a hallmark of his career.

Iskandar Bin Junaidi
Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Iskandar has over 15 years of extensive experience in the financial management of dredging companies. His strategic focus ensures that clients receive value-driven pricing, aligning financial performance with client satisfaction and project success.

Iskandar oversee’s the financial operations and implementing rigorous financial controls and monitoring mechanisms to enhance cost-efficiency and value delivery to clients.
